Harrison Sanders reports at the Royals unbeaten run comes to an end at 9 games!

After Tuesday night’s stalemate, Sutton turned their attention to a big game away to Darlaston Town FC, who are also in and around the play offs.

Cameron Stuart made 1 change to the team, with Jack Lynch replacing Remmie Birch.

The team lined up as:

1. Wren, 2. McGinnell, 3. Lynch, 4. Lima, 5. Beresford, 6. Edmunds, 7. Collins, 8. Hurley, 9. Parry, 10. Burke, 11. Dowd.

3rd Min: Sutton threatened early on with a flicked ball into the box which Parry met with a strong strike, forcing James Storer to make a solid save.

4th Min: From a dubious throw in decision, Darlaston took the lead as a ball was fired across the box to Rivel Mardenborough who slotted the ball into the near post. 1-0 Darlaston.

16th Min: It was so close to a screamer for Sutton, as a looping ball fell to the foot of Lynch who tried an audacious side winder which went just wide of the post.

17th Min: Hurley made sure there was a screamer today! The ball fell to Hurley on the edge of the box, he took a touch, and curled a perfectly placed ball into the top corner to send the Royals level pegging. 1-1.

25th Min: It was Lynch again causing problems on the left-hand side. With a cheeky nutmeg past his man, he fired an effort at goal but, was denied by a strong save from Storer.

37th Min: So close to a goal for the Royals. This time Kory Burke was in space on the touchline, he whipped in a cross which nearly found its way into the back of the net. Unfortunately, he was denied by a strong smart save from Storer.

38th Min: It was almost becoming Hurley’s day! He tried to replicate the first goal, and in doing so was so close but his effort went inches over the crossbar .

HT Darlaston Town 1-1 Sutton

A great half from Sutton who dominated proceedings .

60th Min: Sutton struggled out of the blocks in the second half, with it becoming a very scrappy affair with many bookings.

63rd Min: So close for Sutton. From a free-kick, Edmunds whipped in a perfect ball to Parry whose flicked header trickled past the post.

76th Min: It was a nightmare at the back for Sutton with virtually everyone slipping. A ball was played across, and with Wren and Beresford both slipping, it left an easy target for Kieran Cook. 2-1 Darlaston.

79th Min: Byrne on

80th Min: Rehman on

85th Min: It just wasn’t to be for the Royals. A close-range effort from Burke was fired off the crossbar, somehow not going in.

88th Min: Gibson on

89th Min: Birch on

90+7th Min: The game was put away by Darlaston, after Kieran Cook spotted Wren of his line and lobbed him from the halfway line. 3-1 Darlaston.

FT Darlaston Town FC 3-1 Sutton

A decent game from Sutton, and we were unfortunate not to get anything. The score line was harsh but that’s football.
