After a run of good form in the League, Suttons fixture congestion would be addressed with the first of many Tuesday night games. Sutton would make the journey down the M5 to face playoff pushers Worcester City FC.
Cameron Stuart made 1 change to the winning side on Saturday, with Remmie replacing Cam Collins
The team was:
1. Wren, 2. McGinnell, 3. Lynch, 4. Lima, 5. Beresford, 6. Edmunds, 7. Doyle, 8. Birch, 9. Parry, 10. Burke, 11. Hurley
6th Min: Sutton started positively, but the home side had the first chance which came to Elliot Hartley. His effort was denied by a top class save from Wren.
11th Min: With a great ball over the Worcester back line, Lynch found Parry out wide. Unfortunately, his curled cross couldn’t quite find the head of Burke, who would’ve made it 1-0 to the Royals.
20th Min: Sutton were in control of the game, winning nearly every 50/50 they had, but just couldn’t quite carve out the opportunities due to the rain and the soaking wet pitch.
33rd Min: It was Sutton who struck first again, which is becoming a familiar occurrence. After a few missed efforts, the ball fell to Ryan Edmunds who delivered the most perfect ball you could ask for. Captain Bez made no mistake in taking the opportunity, and slotted it past Haydn Whitcombe.
1-0 Sutton
35th Min: Worcester looked for a quick response through Elliot Harvey, but were denied by another top draw James Wren save.
38th Min: It was nearly 2 for the Royals and 2 for Bezza. The corner found his head, but he couldn’t quite guide it into the back of the net.
45th Min: In the dying embers of the half, Worcester brought the game back on level terms through an own goal. Dylan Hart of Worcester won a header in the 6-yard box, but it cannoned of McGinnell brining the game to one a piece at the interval.
HT: Worcester City 1-1 Sutton
Good half from Sutton with a lot of positives to take into the next 45.
46th Min: Bryne On for McGinnell
52nd Min: Kory Burke nearly got his deserved goal, but his volleyed effort went high and wide.
61st Min: The Royals took the lead with a great goal from Kory Burke. His acrobatic effort flew in over the keeper to make it 2-1 to the Royals. 2-1 Sutton.
71st Min: Bez again, who could’ve had a hattrick on the night, headed an effort just over. Again, great football from Sutton.
79th Min: Bryne was causing problems down the left-hand side this half. He finally unleashed a shot, but the effort was saved by Whitcombe.
84th Min: Kory Burke was doing exceptionally well. He beat Charlie Wise down the line for pace, before he delivered the perfect ball for Parry, who just couldn’t quite meet it.
88th Min: Bryne again had another effort, which went agonisingly wide of the right post.
FT Worcester City 1-2 Sutton
A fantastic Royals performance from start to finish against a strong Worcester side. It further adds to the unbeaten run and great from the Royals!
