After a 10-day break, the Royals are back in action at home to new boys Wellingborough Town in their 5th league game of the season.
Last time Sutton played, they knocked out Newcastle Town in the FA Trophy. It was probably the best performance and result of the season so far.
Wellingborough Town are based in Northamptonshire, and were formed in 2004 after the previous club folded. which had run since 1867.
They are nicknamed the Doughboys thought to come from a local speciality “ock ‘n’ Dough” which is an economy cut from the front hock of bacon.
Wellingborough play in yellow and blue at home and orange and blue away.
Sutton have played the fewest games in the league so far mainly due to the successes of opponents in the cup, which explains why they languish at the bottom of the table currently in 19th place on 5 points.
Wellingborough have faired better in 8th place on 8 points but have played 2 games more.
The last time Sutton played Wellingborough was in 86/87 season in the FA Cup Preliminary round with a 3-1 result.
Sutton will be hoping for a similar result to their last game at the Dominos Arena.
Hopefully, this should kickstart the league momentum which has seen them get a win, two draws, and that loss to Quorn on the opening game of the season.
A performance to equal the one against Newcastle last time out would surely give them the points they need to rise above the bottom four places.
