After a great 2-0 victory in the FA Cup last weekend, it’s time to kick of the league campaign away to Quorn this weekend. Our league season started away last season with us losing away to Rugby, fingers crossed for a more positive start to this one.
Quorn are based in Leicestershire, and like Sutton play their football on a 3g pitch. They play at the Farley Way Stadium and are nicknamed The Reds. They are also known as “The Methodists”, which is a nod to their historical name.
They were formed in 1924 and were promoted to the Northen Premier League by winning the play-offs in The United Counties League.
Quorn also had a great start to their FA cup campaign, beating Spalding Utd who got promoted from our league last season. So, they are going to be up there competing for those play-offs for definite.
The last time Sutton played them they won 5-3 at home, but also drew 1-1 away earlier in the season. They were both very good entertaining games, and I’m sure Saturday’s game will be no different.
Everyone at the club is feeling positive, and why not? We have had a good pre-season and progressed in the Cup, and with both new strikers getting goals, things look to be on track.
Hope to see as many of you as can make it to Leicestershire to cheer the boys on.
