This week Sutton take on Anstey Nomads away at Cropston Road. After winning in midweek, Sutton will be desperate to continue with another win and progression in this cup competition.
Anstey Nomads FC are based in Anstey in Leicestershire and play at Cropston Road. They were formed in 1946 and are nicknamed The Nomads. They play in red and white stripes and were promoted to the Northern Premier after becoming Premier Division North champions two season ago, they also won the League cup in that same season.
Anstey Nomads are having a great season so far, and are currently in 15th place on 7 points. After playing only 4 games in our league this season, their position is mainly down to the fantastic cup runs they have had. They beat Lye Town and Shepshed Dynamo in the previous rounds to earn 2nd round qualification.
They are still in the FA cup and face Rushall Olympic in the 3rd round. This is after beating Grimsby Borough, Alvechurch and Mickleover in previous ties.
Sutton, in the previous round, beat Newcastle Town 3-1 in what was arguably their best performance of the season.
Last time we played Anstey was back in April where we lost 2-1 away, but the previous November, we won 4-2 after coming back from 2-0 down.
The Royals will have to contend with old compatriots, Leo Brown and James Tague who are both playing well, scoring 11 goals between them.
This will be the one of the toughest tests yet for Sutton, as Anstey do have momentum on their side having being unbeaten in their last eight games.
It’s sure to be a great clash.
