1. How long have you been at Sutton and what position do you play?
I joined Sutton at the start of this season, so not been with the team long! My position is Centre Midfield, mainly a holding midfield player.
2. What was the first game you played in?
The first game I played in was an away trip to Doncaster Rovers at the start of the season. To be honest I couldn’t have asked for a better way to meet the team than a long coach trip north!
3. Have any of your family ever supported the Royals?
Myself and my family aren’t actually from Birmingham, at the moment they all live in Surrey so haven’t been able to come up for a game. I’m sure when they get the chance they’ll be cheering from the stands.
4. Most memorable match?
Has to be my first Doncaster away. Like I said, it was the first time I met the squad and played a match with them and I couldn’t have asked for a better start to life at the club. After that away trip, I knew I wanted to be a part of this football club.
5. Game you most want to forget?
I wouldn’t say it’s a game to forget, but most notably it would have to be Leek away. As a squad we faced a tough outfit that day for numerous reasons other than the ability of the opposing team, and until we play them again I don’t think ill experience another game quite like it.
6. How have you been playing this season after a long break due to lockdown?
I joined Sutton after having taken a break from playing football, so I definitely know there are greater levels I can reach and perform at for this club. I'm sure as our season progresses i’ll be able to show this more.
7. How often do you train during the week?
So we train twice a week on a Wednesday and Thursday and then matches on a Sunday afternoon.
8. Best player at Sutton Coldfield this season do you feel?
Thats a tough one! All the girls in the squad have their own strengths and qualities that they bring. However, if i was to pick one it would be Niamh. She is scoring goals for fun in this league and as a CM its great to know if you play the right ball, your Centre forward is going to score.
9. Furthest travelled to play for Sutton?
Doncaster Rovers away
10. What improvements would you like to see at the ground?
Can’t really fault Coles Lane, as a squad we are grateful to be able to train and play our matches there.
11. Do you support any other football teams?
Yes, I do. I am a Fulham FC fan... I know you probably all feel sorry for me but someone’s got to support them, right?
12. Best thing about Sutton Coldfield Town FC?
Definitely the team! I knew from my first game that they are all a fantastic group of players and it was something i wanted to be apart of!
13. What is your favourite film?
Anyone that knows me knows my favourite film is Finding Nemo, and I am not ashamed to admit that!
14. Where do you see your football career going?
Personally, I’ve been very fortunate with the football career I’ve already had. As a kid I played for numerous academies which eventually led to me signing my first contract for Aston Villa Women in the FA Womens Championship which was a goal of mine. So, if I’m honest i am now just enjoying my football and hopefully i can help play my part in securing national league status for Sutton.
15. What is your favourite group/ band?
My favourite band would have to be Kodaline.
16. Do your team mates have a nickname they use for you?
I have a pretty short name as it is, it usually just gets shortened to El.
17. What hobbies or interests do you have outside football?
My life literally revolves around football, it always has done. I currently work as a coach at Aston Villa’s Girls Academy so if I’m not playing, I’m always coaching football.
18. How have you been keeping busy during the lockdown?
I’ve been fortunate during the lockdowns as I work in a Primary school as a sports coach and a coach at Aston Villa, both of which have still have been running during this period, so my day-to-day life hasn’t changed.
19. Do you feel that women’s football is better supported now?
Personally, I think women’s football is making steps in the right direction, and I believe the opportunity for girls to get into football and play has improved. However, there is always more that can be done to support female players. It’s great to see we now have a professional league in this country with premier league clubs supporting their women’s teams, but investment into grassroots football , I believe needs to be greater.
20. Do you feel women’s football is publicised enough?
Similarly, to the last question, I think exposure of women’s football has improved, with players, matches, stats ect being easy to find, especially for professional clubs. However, to say women’s football is publicised ‘enough’ would be wrong. The women’s game still has so much more room for growth, and ultimately the amount and way it is publicised will have a huge effect on this.
