Royals manager Neil Tooth last night signed Mark Danks and Ramone Stephens. Danksy will be no stranger to the Coles lane faithful having been a major success in his 1st stint with the club scoring 37 goals in 43 appearances. Ramone joins from Rushall and is a fast attack minded player that creates and scores goals. The 1 player leaving is Francino Francis who has left to join Chasetown.
We caught up with Toothy after training last night. "Danksy needs no introduction at all after his last spell and I don't see any reason why he cant be as good this time around. Ramone is a player that can open teams up with ease and he knows the level so im delighted to get both in time for Saturday."
Asked about Francis going out Tooth said, " Money talks unfortunately and he has gone for the money plain and simple. He played under Marcus Law at 3 former clubs so I expected the approach and in all honesty I fully expected him to join them next season. I spoke to Fran and asked him what he thought when we had the approach and he said he didn't think it was worth it and he was enjoying it with us. I asked him again on Tuesday and he again said he was staying then I get a text message on Thursday saying he is going to Chasetown as they have offered him more money and the captains armband. I was raging yesterday as I turned down the chance of signing a player on Monday as Fran had told me he was staying but nothing surprises me in football and maybe all the managers spouting off in their local press and on their websites about how big our budget is should take note as I don't see any other team challenging losing players to a side in the bottom 6. Maybe I should start spouting off about how small my budget is compared to other clubs in the league to try and make the job we do here look amazing but that's not my style ill let the ego maniac managers who want to climb the managerial ladder faster than their ability warrants to continue with those games."
